Man of the Year Candidate #1 – Rick Pitino

With our 2012 “Man of the Year” named, it’s time to start nominating our 2013 Man of the Year Candidates. Our first nominee banged a slut, paid her to keep her mouth shut and then helped send her to jail. He is future Hall of Fame coach, Rick Pitino.

Rules of being a Louisville Cardinals Fan

1. Grow a line beard. Nothing looks more “manly” than a peach fuzz beard.

2. Wear a “wife beater”. If wearing a wife beater isn’t your thing you can wear ECHO, FUBU or Tapout hoodies.

3. Wear UofL hats incorrectly like sideways, backwards or way too loose.

4. Live in the past. Remind everyone that in 1986 UofL won it all since most people don’t remember.

5. Pretend you know about other sports besides UofL basketball. When you lose to UK you can tell them how UofL’s soccer or field hockey team is better than theirs!

6. Drink Crown Royal. Let UK and their fans drink that “fancy” Bourbon. Stick to what you know best.

7. Blame and boo the refs during every call. Remember, UK and every team UofL plays has to cheat to beat you.

8. Overrate your players. Pretend the slow white guy that can’t run, sucks at defense and can’t make his own shot is awesome.

If you can follow all of those rules, you’re on your way of becoming a true UofL fan!

Stats you won’t find in yesterday’s “Battle of the Bluegrass” box score

Half of the 50 U of L fans that showed up at Rupp left half-way through the first half. Of course these disloyal fans will claim they stayed for the entire game.

Two-thirds of Louisville fans at home turned the TV off half-way through the first half. They will also claim they watched the entire game.

Half of Louisville fans at Sports bars left during the first half with one-third of them not leaving a tip.

The other 100 Louisville fans that wanted to be at the game showed up at the KFC Yum! Center thinking they were playing another home game.

Stores had to give refunds for 75% of the Louisville car flags, t-shirts, hoodies, bumper stickers, license plates and other items they sold the prior week leading up to the game.

Pat Forde put down a fifth of Jack Daniels and dreamed about what sex with Pitino would be like.

Pitino was drunk by four o’ clock yesterday wishing he had never turned his back on Big Blue Nation. He will wake up around noon wearing his UK National Championship ring next to a ugly fake blonde, ten years past her prime, just like Pitino is ten years past his prime.

Louisville Cardinals’ Fans – Ignorance at its best

A typical Loserville (Louisville) fan posted this yesterday on my Facebook. Career wise I totally agree that Pitino is the better coach, based on the fact he has won a National Championship. Right now Calipari is at least, ten times better.

This woman like 99% of Louisville Cardinals fans, lacks common sense. They are blinded from the truth, facts and logic. Pitino’s greatness was at UK. In eight short years, 2 of those being lost to probation, Pitino guided UK to three Final Fours, five Elite Eights and a National Championship.

Pitino has been at Louisville since 2001. He has lost in the second round or less, 7 times. He has lost in the first round or made the NIT, 5 times. He is clearly not the coach he once was.

Here is his record while at UK -

Kentucky Wildcats (Southeastern Conference) (1989–1997)
1989–90 Kentucky 14–14 10–8 T–9th
1990–91 Kentucky 22–6 14–4 T–8th

You Louisville fans can have him. He’s only good at banging crazy old ugly blondes on tables these days.

UK vs. U of L 12/31/11 – Nation’s best college basketball rivalry

I try to be the most honest fan there is. I never root or bet against UK. Even when UK is bad or below average I still bet for them to win against U of L. This year looks to be a classic in the making. Of course in a rivalry anything can happen. These types of games never end the way they should. Last year everyone thought it was going to be a close game. Instead, UK hammered U of L. The year before that everyone thought UK would win by 20 or more. Instead, they won by nine. Below is how I believe the teams match-up.

Coaching – Even. Pitino is a future hall of famer, and should already be in there. He isn’t the best of the best that he once was, but the man can still coach and motivate players. Calipari is the top recruiter in the game today, and great motivator. His X’s and O’s aren’t up to par with Pitino, but he can make average players (Josh Harrellson ring a bell?) play like a top ten NBA draft pick on any given day.

Starters – UK has the edge. They have five future first round NBA draft picks. These five guys can all play great basketball. They are quick, physical, great defensively; most can play multiply positions and better shooters than the past two UK teams.

Bench – Louisville has the edge. Louisville can go 9 or 10 deep. UK can maybe go 7, with Miller being the only true threat. Louisville can sub any position with multiply players, making them hard to defend. Louisville’s bench may be as good as their starters.

Strength of schedule – UK has a slight edge. U of L has the higher RPI, but has no wins against any current top 25 team. UK has beaten Kansas and UNC, both top 15 teams, with UNC being a top five team. People say strength of schedule doesn’t matter, but it does. UK proved that last year against U of L.

Offense – U of L has the edge. They are way more consistent than UK. UK may be scoring more points a game, but at times, UK looks lost on the court. Their point guard play has me worried most.

Defense – Even. Many UK fans will disagree with this and say UK is much better. But UK and U of L play two very different styles of defense. UK can block shots better than any team in the nation but they get schooled a lot behind the three point line. U of L’s full court press and zone is second to none. However, U of L falls asleep under the basket a lot, even against much weaker opponents.

Crowd – UK has the edge. U of L will bring a lot of fans to Rupp. But UK fans will still dominate the crowd. UK also doesn’t like to lose at home. And they don’t lose under Calipari at Rupp.

Score,

UK 73, U of L 70.

Feel free to tell me what you believe the score will be.

Louisville Cardinals Fans – Fair-weather liars

Louisville Cardinals fans are people just like you and me. Most of them are good people. Nobody is saying they are horrible human beings. Living in Louisville means the majority of my friends are Louisville fans.  I even have family (two sisters and some nieces) that are U of L fans. So many U of L fans are people that I care about. Them being a U of L fan doesn’t change how I care about them what so ever.

U of L fans love to bad mouth UK fans as being rude, arrogant and fair-weather. The first two may hold a little truth. A lot of UK fans are very nasty toward other fan bases, mainly that of U of L. When it comes to college basketball, UK is very arrogant and cocky. But saying UK are fair-weather fans is a myth and a lie. To find a fair-weather fan, U of L fans should take a look in the mirror. Nothing says fair-weather more than a U of L fan.

First let’s begin with U of L football. Under Bobby Petrino U of L Football was pretty damn good. They won a lot of games including the Orange Bowl and Big East Championship. Take away one bad quarter and U of L could have gone undefeated. Home games were sold out. During Football season you saw tons of U of L car flags, fans wearing their red in public and bars packed with U of L fans. Then Steve Kragthorpe took over as coach. Each season they won less and less. Papa John’s Stadium was normally one-third to half empty. All the talk of future National Championships ceased to exist. Hell, I almost forgot U of L had a football program, as did most U of L fans. Now since U of L is decent again, the football hype is back. The “fans” are now “fans” again. That’s the U of L way – win we’re a fan, lose we aren’t.

U of L basketball fans are no better. Growing up during the UK Pitino days all I heard was how he cheats, was a crybaby and snob. When Denny Crum started losing, how did U of L fans repay this legend? They ran him, his Value City suit and hairpiece out of Freedom Hall as quickly as they could. When U of L hired Pitino he went from cheat to the next great thing. He went from crybaby to gentleman. He went from snob to classy. That is how U of L fans treat their greatest Coach once he can’t win. They replace him with their archrival’s has been coach – priceless!

Lately U of L fans have picked up traits from known liar, Pitino. Pitino told the world how the KFC Yum! Center would be the greatest basketball arena of all-time (it is nice btw). For weeks before it was open U of L fans talked trash about their new great arena. They told us UK fans how it would make Rupp look like crap and how all the major recruits would flock to it. One would think with all the hype that a brand new state of art arena would have been sold out in hours, right? Wrong. The first game ever played in “the greatest basketball arena ever” didn’t even sellout until the day of the game. Actually it didn’t sellout until a few hours before game time. What a fan base!

Prior to basketball season there’s always hype for both UK and U of L. The difference is always the same – UK has a better fan base. Both teams start off the new season with “Basketball Madness”, a chance for fans to see the team, mainly the new freshman players. This year U of L fans talked more trash than normal, mainly due to their high preseason ranking (which they did deserve). Yet only 11,000 “hardcore” fans filled their 22,500 seat arena. UK on the other hand, had a sellout crowd at Rupp of 24,000 plus.

This past year Louisville fans have amazed me more than ever before. Now they pretend they know about women’s basketball and even a bigger joke, soccer. Soccer, really, you enjoy soccer? Most Americans hate soccer. UK’s soccer team could be ranked number one and I would care more about taking a nice dump. U of L got good in soccer and now I meet dedicated U of L soccer fans. Please, I doubt half of these idiots even know three rules of soccer. It’s funny how a few years ago I never heard or saw any U of L fan talking about soccer. Isn’t it amazing they do well; a few fans see it in the paper and jump on the bandwagon? They might as well, they do it for every other sport they play, why not soccer?

U of L fans can say what they want about UK fans. I rather be called those names than be fair-weather like your fan base. Even under drunk Billy Gillispie, senior day sold out and UK fans took over the SEC Tournament. Unlike U of L, our seniors didn’t play in a 50%-60% empty stadium. We UK fans also don’t pretend to know things about fake sports like soccer and cheerleading (which UK dominates btw). UK would have never ran Rupp out of Lexington and then replace him with a rival coach. Of course if UK did, the fans would have never accepted it like U of L fans accepted Pitino.

Listen, brag all you want about the KFC Yum! Center. It’s still smaller than Rupp arena. Add more seats to Papa John’s Stadium. It’s still over 15,000 seats smaller than Commonwealth. UK fans will always outnumber opposing fans during the SEC Tournament while it’s like looking for Waldo when trying to find U of L fans during the Big East Tournament. Little brother always wants what big brother has. U of L will never have a great fan base like that of UK’s.
